‘HATCHING’ Trailer Delivers the WTF Response You Need in Your Life

IFC Midnight just delivered us a hot slice of What-The-Fuck-Is-Going-On into our inbox with a trailer for the film Hatching, which is premiering at the Sundance Film Festival later this month.

SYNOPSIS

In HATCHING, 12-year-old gymnast, Tinja (Siiri Solalinna), is desperate to please her image-obsessed mother, whose popular blog ‘Lovely Everyday Life’ presents their family’s idyllic existence as manicured suburban perfection. One day, after finding a wounded bird in the woods, Tinja brings its strange egg home, nestles it in her bed, and nurtures it until it hatches. The creature that emerges becomes her closest friend and a living nightmare, plunging Tinja beneath the impeccable veneer into a twisted reality that her mother refuses to see.

What initially looks to be an odd Gremlins riff turns into something more sinister as the trailer rolls deeper. This is definitely on the watchlist. Go ahead and add it to your watchlist on Letterboxd if you fool around with that (which you should).

With Sundance being 100% virtual again this year, you could catch the premiere in your own home. Here’s the link to the film. Single Film Tickets are $20 and a Day Pass is $100. Single Film tickets will go on sale January 13 at 10am MT. Hatching will premiere on January 22nd at 11:55 PM MT.
