Meet Some Really Nutty Guys and a Cute Dog in the Trailer for ‘SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS’

If you haven’t seen In Bruges then go watch that film right this second and come back later to watch this trailer.

Okay. . . are you back?  Good? I know, right!  The emotional weight and symbolism in that film was not what I was expecting either.  Even though the tone of In Bruges is drastically different from what the advertising campaign of the film led us to believe, the final product turned out to be a smarter and more satisfying story than just a typical shoot ’em-up action/comedy.  Which leads me to believe that this first trailer for Martin McDonagh’s new film, Seven Psychopaths, also fails to really capture the tone of the film.  Maybe I’m mistaken.  Maybe the film is just as zany and off-the-wall as the trailer leads us to believe.  Yet, I still feel like there is something up McDonagh’s sleeve with this one.  Like, why for instance, is there not a mention or hint at all of Colin Farrell playing a screenwriter who happens to also be working on a script for a film entitled Seven Psychopaths?

We will have to see for ourselves if indeed this trailer best captures the mood of the film when Seven Psychopaths enters theaters beginning October 12.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
