‘UNFRIENDED: DARK WEB’ Trailer & Poster Ditches the Supernatural For Macabre Realism

While I enjoyed Unfriended when I initially saw it in the theaters, I thought it really didn’t benefit from repeat viewings (in addition to thinking that it would best benefit from an initial viewing on a laptop vs. a theater). Judging from this trailer, Unfriended: Dark Web, seems to not play into the supernatural that was introduced in Unfriended and from what I hear from colleagues, this one is a lot darker and nastier. Granted, I’m keeping my expectations in check because it is written & directed by Stephen Susco who previous wrote The Grudge American adaptations and the story of Texas Chainsaw 3D which featured many timeline errors. However, judge for yourself by watching the trailer below.

Unfolding in real-time UNFRIENDED: DARK WEB is the most terrifying horror yet from the producer of GET OUT, HAPPY DEATH DAY and THE PURGE, and the makers of UNFRIENDED.

When a 20-something finds a cache of hidden files on his new laptop, he and his friends are unwittingly thrust into the depths of the dark web.  They soon discover someone has been watching their every move and will go to unimaginable lengths to protect the dark web.

What are your thoughts?

Are you going to check it out in theaters?

UNFRIENDED: DARK WEB IS IN THEATERS JULY 20
