The LOVELY MOLLY Trailer Reveals a Psychotic Molly

It’s been twelve long years since Eduardo Sanchez first shocked horror fans with the found-footage shocker The Blair Witch Project.  Following the endless amount of teen slashers that were produced in the wake of 1996’s Scream, Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez gave audience a different take on horror that didn’t involve actors/actresses from the hit WB shows and didn’t involve a guy running around in a mask.  The film struck a chord with audiences with its reality-based, low budget, documentary look that was first seen years earlier in the controversial film Cannibal Holocaust.  The directing duo split following Blair Witch and each went off to pursue future horror related projects.  Though none of these films failed to generate the same lightning-in-a-bottle success they achieved with their first outing, some of these pictures were interesting enough to check out. Sanchez has a new film that is currently premiering at the TIFF Midnight Madness program: Lovely Molly.   Incorporating a sense of paranoia and unseen evil, the trailer for Molly makes me wonder if this film will push Sanchez back into the horror spotlight.  Keep reading to judge for yourself.

No release date for Lovely Molly has been announced as of yet.  Here’s hoping that changes soon.  After watching this trailer, this is a girl I want to have a date with really soon.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
