And the Creepiest Trailer of the Year Award goes to THE WOMAN IN BLACK

Hot off the success of the epic Harry Potter series, Daniel Radcliffe has teamed up with one of the classic studios of horror.  Hammer Horror had a long tradition bringing gothic horror to blood-thirsty fans in the late 50’s to early 70’s.  The British company made a name for itself producing their own versions of The Mummy, Frankenstein, and Dracula.  Now, Daniel Radcliffe follows in the footsteps that began with the Hammer greats like Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.  Hammer returned to theatrical releases with last year’s Let Me In.  In the new trailer for The Woman in Black, you can see Hammer return to their roots.  Utilizing beautiful art direction and subtle scares, the new trailer gives us horror fans some of the creepiest images of the year.  Enjoy the new trailer after the break.

CBS Films just debuted the new trailer on Yahoo.

The Woman In Black is directed by British filmmaker James Watkins who previously gave us the horror film Eden Lake. The screenplay was written by Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class) and adapted from Susan Hill’s classic novel, published in 1983. The Woman In Black hits theaters in the US on Feb . 3, 2012.

A young lawyer (Daniel Radcliffe) travels to a remote village to organize a recently deceased client’s papers, where he uncovers tragic secrets and encounters the ghost of a scorned woman set on vengeance.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
