Ten MORE Things to do in Saint Louis for Halloween

Halloween is upon us! If you are like us, you want to get your planning done early. I feel like every October it is almost impossible to have any free time as pretty much every weekend gets filled with Halloween events, and this year is no different as there is no shortage of great things to do in the gateway city to get yourself in the Halloween spirit. With that in mind, we are continuing the good fight to spread the word on why St. Louis is such a great Halloween city. With a great fall season, events within the city as well as several great pumpkin patches in surrounding farms, this year is an even better year to check out some of the events from last year’s list of things to do in St. Louis, especially with vaccinations now available (don’t be a creep – Find out how to get your vaccine here: https://www.vaccines.gov/. Things are different this year now that we have vaccines, but it isn’t over yet because that change starts with YOU. And wear your mask where needed!). Also worth noting is this year Six Flags is returning to their regular Fright Fest events (last year’s Hallow Fest was named so due to their restriction of certain attractions, so now they are back to their normal events).

10. grab a bite at terror tacos!

Founded by two brothers with a shared love of horror and metal Terror Tacos is located at 3191 S. Grand Blvd. With horror-inspired décor, a door to Room 237 as well as dish names like Texas BBQ Massacre, Fright of Tacos, and Terror Burrito, Terror Tacos is the perfect place to refuel between your spooky adventures.

9. Visit a Real Pet Cemetery

You want to make like the Creed family and see if dead is better? Then make your way over to the pet cemetery in New St. Marcus. Located at 7901 Gravois in Affton, this is a cemetery I make a point to visit every October. It’s quite big, but not overwhelmingly so like say, Bellefontaine. You will probably run into some wildlife which always makes it exciting. It isn’t the most well-kept cemetery, but I think that really adds to its charm, atmosphere and spooky vibe. This is one of my favorite cemeteries in the St. Louis area, and I love the ethereal trek through the main cemetery all the way to the back of the cemetery where the creepy gate leading to the pet cemetery is.

Pro tip: visit this place just before dusk and really freak yourself out. I swear I heard dogs barking (ghost dogs?).

Not an actual phantom, this is my sister.

8. Corpse Reviver Halloween Pop-Up Bar

After a brief hiatus last year, cocktail bar Lazy Tiger presents the return of Corpse Reviver Halloween pop-up bar. This year they will have circus-inspired drinks and you can make your reservations on resy.com.

7. The Ghoul House Pop-Up Bar and Haunted Trail

St. Charles’ historic Public School House will have a Halloween takeover from October 20-23 and October 27-30 with their Ghoul House pop-up bar event, with an added bonus of haunted trail walking tours! 6. Get Spooked at Zombie Road

(Easiest access to the trail by parking at the address above)

Located in Wildwood, the 2.3 mile path formally called Rock Hollow Trail was built in the 1860’s as a small railroad following along the Meramec River, before becoming a gravel road, and more recently a completely paved path. Referred to as one of the most haunted places in Missouri, with tales such as an old woman who yells at passersby to turn back, to legends of being built on Native American burial ground, to a woman who was struck by a train, ghostly remnants of a community that went into disarray with some of the structures still intact and even a deranged killer known as the Zombie Killer. There is no way to really prove any of it as true, but that’s the fun thing about American folklore around Halloween. Most of the supposed ghostly sightings have occurred at night, but ghost hunters be warned, the trail closes after dark and you are likely to get a ticket. Still, even walking throughout the day can give you an eerie feeling, as the air changes when you walk completely shaded by the trees, isolated, cold, and – wait, is there someone following me?

5. Fear Farm

Brookdale Farms’ Halloween event makes its return select Fridays and Saturdays throughout the rest of September and October. Located in Eureka and billing themselves as the “largest outdoor haunted attraction” and St. Louis’ only haunted corn maze, Fear Farm includes two major haunted attractions: Red’s Corn Maze Massacre, and Farmer Bob’s Haunted Hayride. There definitely are other haunted hayrides in the area but if you are looking for a good scare and want to up the ante a little bit, Fear Farm is worth checking out. Learn more about tickets, times and dates HERE!

3. Halloween Armageddon

If you miss the days of hanging out at the bar in Moolah Theater & Lounge since their closing, you will remember the great October events put on by the resident cult movie experts from behind the bar, whether it was Weirdo Wednesdays or Dead Zone, their own collaboration with Destroy The Brain. Wade’s Movie Bag has been doing Twitch presentations of films every Wednesday pretty much since the beginning of the pandemic. Recently, Wade (the drink and tape-slinging bartender from the Moolah) had a show at Arkadin (mentioned above). At the Moolah, Wade and Mark Willey would put on an event called “Halloween Armageddon” which was essentially a Halloween mixtape while serving cereal and milk along with the usual alcoholic drinks. Well, “Halloween Armageddon” returns at Off Broadway! It features “ three hours of spooky seasonal movies, cartoons, TV clips, and vintage commercials” and will also be featuring a complimentary cereal and milk bar. If milk and cereal isn’t your bag, bring cash for drinks!

As far as Halloween displays go, my house is better than half on that list. And I'm not some suburban richie who just buys out the seasonal section of Home Depot either. My family and I's displays are inventive and often hand built. 3767 Potomac St. 63116
