There’s an EVIL Squid in the New Grinderman Video

Nick Cave has made a name for himself with his group Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, but he has also found success with his side-project Grinderman.  In the new music video for Grinderman’s single “Evil,” Nick Cave looked towards friend and collaborator John Hillcoat.  The two had previously worked on the brutal and bleak western The Proposition.   Hillcoat then went on to direct the cannibalistic  post- apocalyptic Cormac McCarthy novel, The Road, last year.  Well, in the new video, Hillcoat juxtaposes an image of a innocent little bird with what looks like a vampire squid.  You can view the bizarre video beyond the break.

The video actually ends around the 3:00 min. mark, but for some reason continues on a black screen for another 1:30 seconds. Enjoy … and if you haven’t checked out either The Proposition or The Road … do it now!

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
