Bloody Dead Teens On Display for MTV’s ‘Scream’ TV Series Trailer

I’m a fan of Wes Craven’s Scream. I know it is the film that started the whole “melodramatic teenager-in-peril” subgenre and had a heavy hand on why the majority of the 90’s was devoid of originality in American horror. However, there is no doubt that the first entry is a smartly written film that plays with the genre in pretty damn inventive ways and I still think it is owed respect. With that said, when I heard MTV was doing a Scream television series, I thought of their Teen Wolf series and said “Thanks, but no thanks” and quickly wrote it off. That is, until I saw this promo.

I think this promo is pretty great and if it was the opening scene of the show, I’d be hooked. In fact, I kind of am hooked. While Wes Craven decided to just be an executive producer, I still think that this show could be worth something if it is great writers that play off the genre. Let’s just say that thanks to this promo, I am going to be tuning in to the first episode. This is coming from the guy who wasn’t even interested.

Also, in case that earworm of a song gets stuck in your head, I’ll leave the Spotify link below.

SCREAM: THE TV SERIES premieres on June 30th on MTV.
