‘V/H/S’ Sets A VOD and Theatrical Date, Not Ready For Your VCR Just Yet

As V/H/S comes off of a pair of appearances at the Sundance Film Festival and the True/False Film Festival, with another planned for this coming week at the SXSW Film Festival, Magnolia Pictures has announced a schedule for the film’s official release.  The found footage horror anthology will be available on VOD on August 31st with a limited theatrical run to follow starting October 5th. It has received mainly positive buzz so far, though my review of it, which can be read HERE, is far from glowing.  V/H/S brings together five talented directors Adam Wingard (A Horrible Way to Die), David Bruckner (The Signal), Ti West (House of the Devil), Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), Joe Swanberg (Silver Bullets), and a relatively unknown group called Radio Silence.

When a group of misfits is hired by an unknown third party to burglarize a desolate house and acquire a rare VHS tape, they discover more found footage than they bargained for.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
