The Airborne Thriller ‘7500’ Is a Flight that Has Flown off the Radar

If you saw Hammer’s Woman in Black earlier this year you were most likely treated to the first trailer for the film 7500.  It’s a new thriller from writer and director Takashi Shimizu (Ju-On, The Grudge) that stars Leslie Bibb, Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), and Amy Smart. Following a group of passengers on a flight that encounter a paranormal force, the film looked like a claustrophobic and entertaining haunted house flick aboard a plane.  Well, it seems the film has suffered the same fate as some of the characters in the film. The film has suddenly disappeared from the 2012 calendar according to Box-Office Mojo.  While this is extremely disappointing to hear, 7500 is not all but lost.  An undetermined 2013 release date is now planned for the film.  Fans of the Japanese director will have to wait another year to see his new ghost story.  At least we have the great Ju-on to hold us over until then.  Just avoid Shimizu’s The Grudge 2 at all costs if you can.  That film will certainly not leave you wanting to board 7500 next year.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
