Piranha 3D Sequel Announced, Might Be Set in Thailand

I don’t know about you but I loved Piranha 3D (Editor’s Note: Andy loved it – Read the Review) It was so much fun! So when I was surfing around the movie industry press releases and I saw this one it immediately caught my attention. Now I know it didn’t do too well at the box offices this weekend only bringing in 10 million but the Weinsteins expecting a huge push from DVD and Blu Rays have already started the talks of a sequel!

Dimension Films have issued a press release stating that they have already started developing a follow up to the film with director Alexandre Aja and producer Mark Canton. Here is a quote from Canton:

“We are thrilled that audiences are not just loving Piranha 3D but cheering for it. And it’s fantastic that many critics are getting the movie and recommending it. We can’t wait to get back to work on the sequel”

No storyline in the works just yet but there are talks that they want to film the movie in Thailand and having it involve the popular event called The Full Moon Party which is an event on the beach that involves over 200,000 kids eating mushrooms and partying. Sounds like it would be a rollercoaster although I don’t how they could tie this in with the original story since the first involves the Colorado River. Oh well its Hollywood I’m sure they will come up with something.
