FANTASTIC FOUR Trailer is Online!

20th Century Fox just released the trailer for the reboot of Fantastic Four. While tons of internet backlash is looming around this one, the trailer is a nice tease. It does beg the question that is it too little, too late?

The film will be out in 6 months and in between that time Fox can use SDCC ’15 to hype up the film. Fans of the franchise, the comic book franchise, not the film (I hope), started their hate-on for the new reboot once the origin story started changing. Some leaked pictures started hitting the net and that seemed to only fuel the fire.

Synopsis

THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

I’ll fully admit that I know of the characters but haven’t really read any of the comics except when they had crossed over into The Punisher comics (except for the recent one where Marvel got snarky and killed off the “movie cast”). With that said, I’m a prime candidate for the film. I have no dedication whatsoever to the characters in either media form.

After watching the trailer, I can’t say I’m excited but I am intrigued. Miles Teller was amazing in Whiplash, so he is an actor that is on my radar. Also, director Josh Trank crafted a nice “found footage” film with Chronicle. Trank name-dropped Cronenberg as being an influence with his characters in a recent interview with Collider. My concern is that Fox needs to really do a big push on this film. Again, we are 6 months away and we don’t even have a teaser poster or any image assets to reference.

I guess we’ll find out if this movie is worth a damn on August 7, 2015 when it hits theaters. You can like the Fantastic Four Facebook page HERE.
