UPDATED: A New HATCHET II Poster Rises Up Along With A List Of Theaters

Adam Green’s Hatchet is a fun and gory ride. There is no doubt about that. To say it was a return to the over-the-top gory days of horror films in the 1980’s, I would say Cabin Fever did it almost five years prior … and with better results.  On a more positive note, I thought Joel David Moore was great (he was equally outstanding in Green’s follow-up Spiral) and the effects in the movie are pretty jaw-dropping (fans of the film might catch a reference to a certain death).  So when it was announced earlier this year that Hatchet II would get an unrated theatrical release, I was intrigued to see how extreme this unrated version will be.  Well, until the horror sequel gets its limited theatrical run starting October 1, you can check out the new poster which you can find beyond the break.

Movieweb posted the image of the new poster on their site which you can also see below.  Sticking with a more minimalist design campaign, similar to the the first movie poster, the image doesn’t give us much to work with.  What can we expect though?  Horror veteran Danielle Harris (Halloween 4, Halloween 5, Rob Zombie’s Halloween) is on board as well as stunt legend Kane Hodder, who will be donning the grotesque Victor Crowley suit once again.  As with most homages to slasher films, I am sure we will be treated to inventive kills, gratuitous nudity, and cheesy dialogue.  If that is the case, I am sure Hatchet II will be another fun ride.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
