UPDATE on March 7, 2017! You can now pre-order the release via https://www.movie2shop.com/en
Happy Halloween, fiends! Here’s a tasty morsel that you won’t find anywhere else (right now). We had to dig deep, like waaaaay past 6 feet below the surface for this one. 1988’s Elvira: Mistress of the Dark will be hitting Blu-Ray on
December 1st, 2016!! Like many others, I love this film quite a bit. I grew up with it watching it on VHS and on television when it aired so to finally see this in high-definition! Below is the trailer that we found and at the end of it, you can see the date.
Digging into this release more, the company putting this out is a German company called Cinespectral Films. According to a representative, the pre-order
will probably happen tomorrow, November 1st is still to be announced. That should give you enough time to get ready and order it on their site. This is something that they announced back in September on their Facebook page but no websites have reported about this yet. After even more digging, here are some details about the release that was published on the Blu-Ray forums back in April and from another post on the subject:
4K to 2K scan done at DeLuxe in Los Angeles from the original interpositive.
3-Disc Set (2 Blu-Rays via BD50 and 1 DVD) with three different mediabook (a common collector’s product in Germany) releases limited to 1000 copies each.
The release will include a “bunch of special features”
60 Page booklet (30 pages in English and 30 pages in German).
We’ll keep our ears to the ground and update this post with more news as it comes in. It does sound like this will be a Region Free release as well.
UPDATE on 12/23/2016 – A clip of one of the special features, “TOO MACABRE – The Making of ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK”, has been uploaded by Cinespectral Films.
If you stick it out at the end, you can see the three different covers.
UPDATE 11/1/2016 8:05pm – We have had a lot of traffic and inquiries lately about getting more information for the release. The Pre-Orders haven’t started yet. Apparently, Cinespectral’s site will be going online once the pre-orders are ready. However, as referenced in a reply after this post was published, it looks like another site might be handling the pre-orders. That site is https://www.movie2shop.com/en/. Currently, the site is in “maintenance mode”. The rep is waiting for Amazon Payments to be finalized before the pre-orders go live.
