Creepy ‘SLEEP TIGHT’ hits DVD & Blu-Ray in January from Dark Sky Films

While I personally haven’t watched the film, I hear that Sleep Tight is an effective and creepy little film. Don’t believe me, read Michael’s review. I can’t wait to check this out finally and thanks to the wonderful fiends at Dark Sky Films, we won’t have to wait much longer.

From the Press Release

None of the residents of a sleek apartment building would ever suspect that the quiet man who opens the door for them every day has a deep, dark and deadly secret. And now the secret’s out as SLEEP TIGHT, featuring “one of the most charismatic villains in the recent cinema” (Fotogramas), comes to high-definition Blu-ray and DVD from Dark Sky Films on January 8, 2013, with SRPs of $29.98 and $24.98, respectively.

Written by Alberto Marini (Films to Keep You Awake), SLEEP TIGHT is the latest film from the director of the Calista Flockhart horror movie Fragile and the modern thriller classics [Rec] and [Rec] 2.

Toiling silently among the residents of an everyday Barcelona apartment building, doorman Cesar (Luis Tosar, Even the Rain, Miami Vice) harbors a dark secret: his sole desire in life is to make others unhappy. When he sets his sights on Clara (Marta Etura, Cell 211, Dark Blue Almost Black), one of his building’s cheeriest residents, his sick need blossoms into a full-fledged obsession.

Embarking on a series of private and physical violations against Clara, Cesar becomes determined to ruin her life by any means necessary. Becoming the boogeyman hiding under the bed and bringing her nightmares to life, his fascination with torment soon crosses the line into lunacy – and his thirst for others’ sadness soon becomes manically unquenchable.

Director Balagueró delves into the perverse fantasies of a man on the brink, and delivers an unnerving tale of obsession and torment that delivers nonstop thrills right up to its shocking conclusion.

SLEEP TIGHT was nominated for more than 20 awards in Spain and won six Gaudi Awards, including Best Director, Best Actor for Luis Tosar (praised as “appropriately clammy” by The New York Times’ Manohla Dargis) and Best Screenplay.

NPR’s Jeannette Catsoulis called SLEEP TIGHT “a nifty little thriller.” Dennis Dermody of Paper magazine, called the movie “diabolical and suspenseful,” while the New York Observer’s Rex Reed raved, “Here is a unique fright flick that sets out to terrify and does it to capacity, eschewing fangs and claws to find chills and thrills in the unquenchable evil of human madness.”
