Late Nite Grindhouse Presents: ‘SCUM OF THE EARTH’ at Marcus Des Peres 14 Cine on August 22 & 23

13 years ago, Late Nite Grindhouse teamed up with Grindhouse Releasing to show S.F. Brownrigg’s 1974 proto-slasher-cum-hillbilly-horror film, SCUM OF THE EARTH. Sadly, the title was pulled due to technical issues. Now, the SCUM is back – courtesy of a 4K restoration from Grindhouse Releasing.

This entry in exploitation cinema never made it past VHS so don’t miss this rare opportunity to catch the film on the big screen!

SYNOPSIS for SCUM OF THE EARTH

Newlyweds Helen and Paul are honeymooning in a Texas cabin when Paul is murdered by an unseen assailant. Fleeing into the woods, Helen is taken in by Odie Pickett and his impoverished hillbilly family, becoming trapped in their isolated shack while the killer is still on the loose and wreaking havoc.

Andy Triefenbach is the Editor-in-Chief and owner of DestroytheBrain.com. In addition to his role on the site, he also programs St. Louis' monthly horror & exploitation theatrical midnight program, Late Nite Grindhouse. Coming from a household of a sci-fi father and a horror/supernatural loving mother, Andy's path to loving genre film was clear. He misses VHS and his personal Saturday night 6 tape movie marathons from his youth.
