Music Video: Unknown Mortal Orchestra shows the Dangers of “Nerve Damage”
This “lo-fi” piece of psychedelic, garage-rock, goodness comes from the band Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Aside from the song having a heavily distorted and retro sound – as if it is playing through a car stereo via 8-track – the video seems to embrace a similar archaic aesthetic as well. Including images of a skeleton made of electricity, pulsating veins, glowing eyes, and a kaleidoscope of weird symbols, the video for “Nerve Damage” plays out like the intro to a midnight horror movie marathon that you would have found on a public access channel in the late eighties. Suffice it to say . . . I absolutely love it. I have a feeling you will too. The Portland based band previously released a video for “Strangers are Strange” which is more of an homage to 70’s espionage films.
