Watch Tony Stark’s Life Crumble Away in the First Trailer for ‘IRON MAN 3′

Iron-Man3-pic1-610x434

Those expecting the light- hearted and fun comedic banter Shane Black lent to such amazing films as Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang will be sorely disappointed by the serious tone of this first trailer for Iron Man 3.  Then again, one has to remind themselves . . . this is just the first trailer.  At the very least, the Iron Man 3 trailer looks impressive even if it’s a tad dramatic.  We get a brief introduction to the new villain Mandarin, we see a few new Mach suits, and we get to see all of the returning cast members.  The big reveal though is the destruction of Tony Stark’s home.  In an emotional sequence, we see all that Tony has created, destroyed in an impressive use of CGI.  I personally enjoyed the new trailer but look forward to maybe a few jokes thrown into the next one to remind me that I’m not watching an overly serious Christopher Nolan superhero film. Check out the trailer for Iron Man 3 below.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. The battle between these two worlds has finally ceased with his current position as Managing Editor for DestroyTheBrain.com. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.

I loved it. Breaks him down a bit. Seems that it will pack much more of an emotional punch than the last two. I think we will get the humor and playfulness. That is the character that RDJ has created. But it will be nice to actually care about the climactic battle rather than watching a bunch of “Iron” super beings tossing each other around.
