Neil Jordan’s ‘BYZANTIUM’ Gets a Fang-tastic International Trailer

After having premiered at TIFF last year, Neil Jordan’s return to vampire lore looks to finally be heading our way.  Byzantium follows a mother and daughter vampire duo struggling to make ends meet. Interview With A Vampire may not be your favorite vampire film in the world and there are quite a few that blame its depictions of vampires for Stephanie Meyer’s sparkly take on the creatures of the night, but it’s still a fine adaptation expertly directed by Neil Jordan.  Fans of the director should also check out his often overlooked werewolf film The Company of Wolves.  I’m at the very least slightly more intrigued by this film given some of the visuals seen in this new international trailer and due to my love of both Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Roanan.  IFC is planning to release the film later this year.  I can’t wait to sink my teeth into it.  Enjoy the trailer below.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
