‘YOU’RE NEXT’ finally gets a release date!

Collider received word that one of our favorite films of Fantastic Fest 2011, and even the year of 2011, has been given a release date! Lionsgate announces that Adam Wingard’s fantastic You’re Next will be released on August 23, 2013. Personally, I think the buzz from TIFF & Fantastic Fest 2011 will be long forgotten by the general public by the time it hits theaters but at least it isn’t being dumped on video – which was a genuine worry of mine. I think Lionsgate knows what they are doing on this one and have probably made the right call. It would have been nice to see a Spring 2013 release as it seems like horror & genre films seem to do well in those months. However You’re Next is a unique beast. It’s not straight horror nor is it really horror-comedy. It has a great macabre sense of humor that accompanies the film that by the time you leave the theater you will feel giddy. Read our review if you want but we recommend going into this film a bit blind.
