No One is Here to Comfort You in the First Trailer for ‘MAMA’

Two things become very evident when watching the new trailer for the Jessica Chastain (Take Shelter, Lawless) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones, Headhunters) starring thriller MamaWell, maybe three things come to mind.  One is that Guillermo del Toro has his name on almost every foreign horror film that makes its way to the states.  Secondly, Jessica Chastain even looks hot when she ditches her stunning red hair in favor of a jet black bob.  Finally, I believe you could play a drinking game to this trailer and get completely obliterated if you take a shot every time someone says the word “mama.”  All joking aside, I really REALLY love this trailer even if the creepy child thing is used far too often in horror films.  Mama is directed by Andres Muschietti who previously directed a 2008 short film of the same name.  This feature length version of the story is scheduled for release on January 18, 2013.  For those keeping track at home, the first three weeks of 2013 are now each occupied by a new horror film.  Enjoy the trailer and poster below.

Annabel and Lucas are faced with the challenge of raising his young nieces that were left alone in the forest for 5 years…. but how alone were they?

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. The battle between these two worlds has finally ceased with his current position as Managing Editor for DestroyTheBrain.com. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
