Luke May Form a Jedi Academy on Yavin 4 in the New ‘STAR WARS’ Trilogy

It’s been a hot minute since we last reported on a Star Wars rumor.  I began to miss the excitement of who will direct what, will star who, and will film where.  The Star Wars universe occupied a cornerstone of my childhood and will always be something that will excite me.  I know I am not alone when I say I yearn for new stories featuring the iconic characters.  One of these such characters is Luke Skywalker.  Last we saw the farm-boy turned Jedi he was celebrating the destruction of the second Death Star on the forest moon of Endor.  Many novels and comics have speculated what the character continued on doing after partying with the furry Ewoks.  According to a new rumor, we may now see Mark Hamill wear the Jedi robes once more and see what the Jedi has been up to all this time.  Collider noticed in an article on Reuters about the Mayan calendar and the “end of the world” that a possible story leak was hidden within the article.  You may be asking: how does the Mayans and Star Wars relate to one another?  Fans may remember that at the end of A New Hope, before Luke leads a team of fighters to attack the Death Star, the Rebel Alliance gather in a hidden base on the moon Yavin 4.  This unique base is actually a Mayan temple inside the rainforest of Guatamala.  While reporting about tourists visiting the location in conjunction with the end of the Mayan calendar, the writer may have discovered that this location may be used again in Star Wars: Episode VII.

Yavin 4 and the rebel base return to the Star Wars plot in the forthcoming Episode VII, announced in October by the Walt Disney Co, in which Skywalker comes back to the planet to build a Jedi Knight academy.

This would certainly make sense since Mark Hamill has agreed to return for the new trilogy.  Collider is quick to point out that a series of novels entitled The Jedi Academy Trilogy focus on this idea as well.  Keep in mind, this could all have been made up by avid Star Wars fans feeding the travel writer rumors while visiting the location.  Then again, the writer may also have talked to an official member on the Board of Travel in the country which would know if any films would be filming their soon.  Lucasfilm and Disney have not confirmed or revealed any real details of what the new trilogy will include.  So consider this a possible rumor.  If anything, this might be a really good idea to think about as the world gets showered in fire when the world ends on Friday.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
