Kids. They can bring parents such happiness and yet so many sleepless nights. And on a few occasions, mainly in horror movies, they will bring about even some darker feelings. Fucked-up kids in horror/thriller movies is not a new idea. From Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby to Jaume Collet-Serra’s recent Orphan, we have seen a wide assortment of babies and children that seem far from a “little blessing.” We Need to Talk About Kevin continues in this tradition. Utilizing a great cast (Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly), a talented director (Lynne Ramsay gave us Morvern Collar), and a coming-of-age story that shows a boy with a couple of screws loose, Kevin looks like an effectively tense theatrical experience. Back in May, they released a handful of clips of the film following its acclaimed screening at the Cannes Film Festival (you can watch those clips by clicking HERE). Now, we have a trailer that is narrated by the troubled boy that also includes a lot of quotes from the praising press. If you aren’t planning on having kids anytime soon, keep reading to watch the trailer.
The Guardian first debuted the trailer which you can see below. We Need To Talk About Kevin opens in theaters in the UK on Oct. 21 and here, in the States, on December 2nd.
The mother (Swinton) of a teenage boy named Kevin (Ezra Miller) who went on a high school killing spree tries to cope with her overwhelming grief and feelings of responsibility for her child’s unthinkable actions.
