Chilean Shocker ‘HIDDEN IN THE WOODS’ Gets a U.S. Release This September

A film that I have been hearing about for the past year is a Chilean exploitation film called Hidden in the Woods. It made such an impact at its North American Premiere at Fantasia last year that Michael Biehn and his daughter felt that they needed to remake the film for American audiences. Artsploitation Films are releasing Hidden in the Woods as their second horror release this year. We have included the trailer and the full press release below as well as the pre-order link from Amazon.

From The Press Release

Artsploitation Films, the rising American film label, continues to deliver edgy international movies to North American audiences with its second-ever horror release: HIDDEN IN THE WOODS. Based on a bizarre true story and not for the faint of heart – and also currently being remade in the U.S. – HIDDEN IN THE WOODS features extreme violence, prostitution, sexual assault, buckets of blood and even cannibalism. Deep in the Chilean countryside, Ana and Anny live with their deformed brother and are subject to their father’s perverse and sadistic whims. After a dispute with the police leaves a wake of death and mutilation, they flee and find refuge in a remote cabin hidden from society. Meanwhile, a crime lord, convinced they have stolen the massive stash of drugs their father was hiding, sends a violent pack of thugs to find them. HIDDEN IN THE WOODS is “A devious and unforgiving film….imagery that will make your soul curl…a straight-up bare knuckle bashing film of uberviolence and ultragore.” (Ain’t It Cool News)

Artsploitation’s release of HIDDEN IN THE WOODS will arrive on DVD for the first time ever on September 17. The DVD extras include an eight page booklet, a reversible cover a special look at director Patricio Valladares at Fantasia 2012 and a behind-the-scenes featurette.

HIDDEN IN THE WOODS won Best Extreme Movie at the Feratum Film Festival (Mexico). It also won Best Movie at both the Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre Film Festival and the Asti Film Festival (Italy). Artsploitation’s first-ever horror release WITHER, a Swedish tribute to Sam Raimi’s horror classic, Evil Dead will be released on DVD and VOD this Tuesday, August 20. South Korea’s HORROR STORIES which includes four separate stories and a terrifying wrap-around story will be Artsploitation’s third horror release on October 8. Jason Banker’s TOAD ROAD which VICE described as a frightful “hybrid documentary-feature, weaving a narrative out of the real lives of its subjects in a way that hits on greater truths than either form is capable of alone” will be the fourth horror release this fall from Artsploitation Films.
