‘THE PURGE: ANARCHY’ Feels Like ‘ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK’

While The Purge was great in concept, plenty of people who saw it were not impressed. That could mean that half of the interested audience that was there for the original film is not interested in the sequel. However, The Purge: Anarchy is taking out the home invasion aspect, which seemed to be the attribute people didn’t like, and taking it outside. I even thought that the first entry felt a lot like Assault on Precinct 13. Granted, it didn’t help that the screenwriter/director of The Purge helped write the Assault on Precinct 13 remake.

The new theatrical trailer is out and while I like what I see, I can’t help but get that vibe from Escape From New York without the whole rescue mission. Watch it for yourself below.

What do you fiends think? That shot of the transit bus on fire is a striking one. This trailer may win over some of the naysayers. It seems interesting enough and seems to address the issues people had with the first entry.

THE PURGE: ANARCHY will be out in theaters July 18.
