TWO NEW ‘CHILD’S PLAY’ MOVIES ARE ON THE HORIZON

During last week’s Mad Monster Party Convention, one of the guest panels involved the cast of the original Child’s Play. Updates and rumors around the remake of Child’s Play have been circulating the web for the past two years and now news of another project involving the beloved doll is in the works now too.

During the panel session questions were brought up on the supposed remake of Child’s Play that will be written and directed by Don Mancini who also wrote the original films. Mancini says the remake will be darker and scarier than the original with new twists and turns. I’m really compelled to know what that means because I always thought the original Child’s Play was a lot darker and scarier than any of the sequels.

Brad Dourif  (voice of the doll Chucky) talked about plans to be involved in the remake and another film in the original series.  Which begs the question why make both?  It’s the same Chucky as before, right? I’ll be very curious to see the look and design of the new Chucky because from what I’m seeing and hearing nothing really excites me about this remake.  The project that continues the franchise and also involves Dourif is an offshoot to the Bride of Chucky movie where it will involve the whole clan. It is currently being called Revenge of Chucky

To me it seems a lot more logical to pursue this direction because even though Bride was met with lukewarm criticism, it’s still better than rehashing a classic movie and trying to bring something new to the table ala Rob Zombie’s Halloween (yes, I went there).  All in all, I’m sure more things will surface in the next few months involving both projects and as details become clear you better believe we will have it for you right here at DTB.
