Trailer for indie vampire film MIDNIGHT SON

Here at DESTROY THE BRAIN we get tons of emails about independent films wanting us to publish their trailers or do write ups about their films.  In all honesty, while I support indie filmmakers, a lot of the movies they are hocking are just shot-on-video films with “directors” that have egos or feel like their movie will bring something new to the table.  That is why it is always good to see something that has some promise come into our email.  Check out beyond the break on a film called Midnight Son which was executive produced by Eduardo Sanchez, co-creator of The Blair Witch Project.

Synopsis:

MIDNIGHT SON is the story of Jacob, a young man confined to a life of isolation, due to a rare skin disorder that prevents him from being exposed to sunlight. His world opens up when he meets Mary, a local bartender, and falls in love. Tragically, Jacob’s actions become increasingly bizarre as he struggles to cope with the effects of his worsening condition. Forced by the disease to drink human blood for sustenance, he must control his increasingly violent tendencies as local law enforcement narrow their focus on him as a suspect in a series of grisly murders.

There are a lot of things I really dig about this trailer.  We have seen the “alternative” vampire story where the vampires are trying to get around the fact that they have to kill in order to survive, but it looks like this is a more personal tale and the scene where he is holding the cross just has great imagery behind it.  Count this flick as one I’m looking forward to.

He misses VHS and his personal Saturday night 6 tape movie marathons from his youth.
