“They’re not reshoots,” says Craven regarding additional Filming

I guess Wes Craven wanted to alleviate any concerns people have regarding “the reshoots” for Scream 4.  In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the horror director claims that the recent additional filming was “too add to two scenes.”  Continue reading to find out more.

They’re not reshoots . . .We had a couple test screenings and we saw two scenes where they had moments you could add to and we just saw a spectacular opportunity. Bob [Weinstein] just said to me basically, ‘You go to your dark side and I’ll give you the money!’ [Laughs] The two scenes were really good, but we saw how they could be spectacular, so we thought, let’s just go for it. They were key moments of the script, so we just decided to go back and go for the grand slam on them.”

He continues on to explain that the ending (which is supposed to be insane based on early reviews) was not tampered with.

No, the ending is totally kick-ass,” says Craven. “We’re not gonna touch that. [The scenes being added to are] one scene that’s kind of in the late beginning and one scene that’s a little bit later.”

So all you Scream fans, don’t fret.  Craven seems to be confident in his new film … which might not give some of you who hated My Soul to Take much relaxation.  Yet that is an entirely different story (which for the record … I actually enjoyed the ridiculousness of that film and can not wait to revisit it).

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
