THE TOXIC AVENGER is What the World Needs Right Now

Yes, folks, you read that correctly.  Just to clarify,  I did not say this statement. This is the thought of the director of Hot Tub Time Machine and Accepted, Steve Pink.  Deadline is reporting that Pink will write and direct the remake of the classic Troma feature.  Akiva Goldsman, Richard Saperstein and Charlie Corwin will act as producers for the film as well as the possible four sequels and animated TV series. (HUH?)  “The Toxic Avenger is exactly what the country–wait, that’s not big enough–what the world needs right now,” states Steve Pink.  The original is a fun, low-budget flick that is entertaining on a juvenile level, but does it really need to be remade? If anyone else is confused by the idea of remaking this film or would like to add their opinion to the matter, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
