The New Trailer For ‘TOTAL RECALL’ Will Help You Recall Other Similar Movies

I might be one of the few who wasn’t completely against the idea of remaking Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 film.  Now that I have seen the new glossy trailer for Total Recall , I may want to retract that previous thought.  Directed by Len Wiseman, this new adaptation of the Philip K. Dick original short story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale, looks a lot like Minority Report or Blade Runner with a burnt red / brick red color palette.  Granted, both those movies are also adaptations of Dick’s work and also both happen to be great films.  I’ve just seen both of those films.  Give me something new.  Slapping on a different hue to the entire film and throwing in some white robots who eerily recall bad thoughts of the dreadful film I, Robot isn’t going to fix the issue that this really doesn’t create a new world that I want to enter in and explore.  Starring Colin Farrell, Bryan Cranston, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel and John Cho, Total Recall is set to hit theaters on August 3.  Judge the trailer for yourself below.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
