‘THE LORDS OF SALEM’ Trailer Hits the Web

It looks like the previously bootlegged trailer has now hit the web in crystal clear clarity. While I have my problems with Rob Zombie’s directorial efforts, I can genuinely say that I’m always interested to see what he does. I’m in the minority in thinking that House of 1000 Corpses is a stroke of mad genius that defined Zombie early on as a force to be reckoned with. While many people enjoy The Devil’s Rejects more, I’m still a fan of his color-saturated piece of celluoid before it. Halloween killed it for me as it showed that Zombie can’t really write dialogue too well and I never did see Halloween 2.

After watching The Lords of Salem trailer, I am excited to check this effort out. I have heard mixed things out of its premiere at TIFF but from what I can tell from this trailer is that Zombie has honed in on some striking visuals. His framing compositions seem to put everything in the center yet give a very wide scale. Zombie has stated that Kubrick & Ken Russell have influenced him and it shows. Regardless, I like what I’m seeing here. Then again, his visual style hasn’t been my problem as of late. It’s a shame that we won’t be seeing the film until 2013. Let’s hope for a Spring release as opposed to a later one. Anchor Bay is handling the distribution and as I previously stated in our announcement post, I have my concerns about a theatrical release.

Deadline got the exclusive trailer so click on the poster below to check it out!
