The First Stills Appear for ‘CLOUD ATLAS’ Along with a Motion Poster Complete With a Taste of the Score

After a lengthy wait and right on the heels of the announcement of the film debuting at TIFF, the first stills from Cloud Atlas have arrived.  Given the sumptuous concept art released much earlier for the film, it should come as no surprise that these new stills are amazing to look at.  Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) has teamed with the Wachowski’s (The Matrix) – be respectful with the fact that they aren’t brothers now since Larry is now Lana – to adapt the popular book by David Mitchell.  The film is said to tell the tales of several individuals over the course of several different centuries.  Ambitious doesn’t even begin to describe this movie and novel from what I hear.  It’s a film that has many curious if not just for the scope of the story but for the amazing cast the three directors have gathered together.  Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugh Grant lead a talented cast that actually plays multiple different characters in this time warp of a story.  Thoughts of Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain no doubt come to mind when hearing about the story and the idea of having the leads serve as different characters.  Entertainment Weekly landed the first photos from the film along with a motion poster that includes another set of about twenty additional photos set to the film’s score.  Cloud Atlas hits theaters October 26.

I snagged a few photos from the motion poster that can be found below as well.  Click HERE to see all of them.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
