The First ‘POSSESSION’ Trailer Reveals a Mysterious Box and some Really Creepy Imagery

Sam Raimi has made quite a name for himself in the horror community over the years.  In the new film produced by the horror legend, The Possession (formerly known as The Dibbuk Box), it seems he has returned to a familiar theme he explored in The Evil Dead.  Instead of a cryptic book that unleashes an ancient curse, here you have an old wooden box that seems to take control of a poor girl.  It’s a well done trailer that reveals a number of creepy scenes.  Hopefully the trailer doesn’t reveal too many of the scary sequences that the film looks to have.  We will know when the film hits theaters on August 31.

A young girl buys an antique box at a yard sale, unaware that inside the collectible lives a malicious ancient spirit. The girl’s father teams with his ex-wife to find a way to end the curse upon their child.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
