THE CABIN IN THE WOODS Has Finally Been Rescued by Lionsgate

Is it the early positive buzz behind the Chris Hemsworth starring film Thor?  Is it the fact that Joss Whedon has become a more prominent name now with him taking the reigns of The Avengers?  Whatever the reason, The Cabin In The Woods, Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon’s long shelved MGM film, will finally be released through Lionsgate.  Deadline  grabbed the news that the Hemsworth starring film will see the light of day.  After a failed 3D conversion by MGM and their subsequent bankruptcy, Cabin In The Woods looked like it was going to sit on the shelf forever. Though nothing official has been announced yet, the rumors say it will have a Oct. 28th, 2011 release.  Once we get an official announcement on the date, we will let you know.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
