RUBBER Sets a Date to Squeal into Theaters and On Demand

How much fun can a film about a killer tire really be? Well, apparently a lot considering all the positive reviews that came out of Fantastic Fest this past year.  Even Andy was won over by the lonesome telepathic tire.  You can read his review of Rubber here.  Magnet Releasing (is there a cool film that they do not have their hands on) has just announced that the film will see a double release on both on demand and in theaters.  Find out when after the break.

Starting February 25 you will be able to catch Rubber on demand.  Following that, the film will see limited theatrical release April 1.  With the addition of Rubber, April 1st is set to be a busy day. James Wan’s  Insidious, James Gunn’s Super, and Darren Lynn Bousman’s Mother’s Day all will see a release on April 1st as well.  Though it most likely will not happen, how cool would it be to see Rubber at a drive-in?  One can always hope.

Rubber is the story of Robert, an inanimate tire that has been abandoned in the desert, and suddenly and inexplicably comes to life. As Robert roams the bleak landscape, he discovers that he possesses telepathic powers that give him the ability to destroy anything he wishes without having to move. At first content to wreak havoc on small desert creatures and various lost items, his attention soon turns to humans, resulting in the most gory vehicular-related mayhem inflicted on screen by an “inanimate” object since Christine.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
