Rob Zombie Unleashes a New Poster for ‘THE LORDS OF SALEM’

After surprising many with an announcement proclaiming that The Lords of Salem will premiere as part of the midnight program of the Toronto International Film Festival, the rocker turned director Rob Zombie has now released a new poster for the film stemming from a new image that has been released from the film.  Saturated in a bizarre shade of vibrant baby blue, the poster shines a spotlight on a character we don’t know much about even if it looks somewhat familiar to gorehounds.  Fans of the Italian ‘Godfather of Gore,’ Lucio Fulci, might notice a resemblance between Zombie’s priest figure found in the poster and the cellar dwelling Dr. Freudstein in The House by the Cemetery.  Whether this is a coincidence or an homage to the Italian 1981 film is unknown.  I’m beyond curious to see what fans and critics will say after the film debuts at TIFF next month.  It’s easily one of my most anticipated upcoming films and that ‘s only based on the handful of stills and a shoddy bootleg version of a trailer that leaked online a couple of months ago.  Hopefully this will be corrected soon and an official trailer will make its way online as we get closer to the film’s debut.

Along with the poster below I have included two new stills from the film.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
