Ridley Scott May Call ALIEN Prequel, PARADISE

There has been a ton of rumors circulating the past week in regards to Ridley Scott’s prequel(s) to the horror/sci-fi series Alien.  First we heard rumors of the studio pushing back the release to 2013/2014.  Later we heard the studio was aiming for Leonardo DiCaprio to star in the lead.  Now … a source according to Vulture Movies (New York Magazine affiliate) says that Fox is calling Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel, ParadiseParadise reboots the original Alien franchise, in that the story follows a group of space travelers who encounter a monstrous alien creature that picks them off, one by one.  Besides the interesting name change, there are two new names thrown into the pile of possible actors for the film.  Continue reading to find out who.

Michael Fassbender (Centurion, Inglourious Basterds) and Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) are both rumored to star in Paradise.  Fassbender would play “David,” an earlier version of Bishop’s android character. And actress Michelle Yeoh is being considered for “Vickers” part, a forty something, tough and sexy woman.

As I warned earlier … there has been so many rumors floating about that it is hard to take anything seriously.  We will certainly keep you updated though, if we hear anything else.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
