PAUL Will DIVIDE THE INNKEEPERS At SXSW ’11

The above title may seem a bit ridiculous and confusing to some.  Yet, for those who recently heard the announcement of what films will be showing at this years SXSW Movie and Music Festival in Austin, it sums up three big genre films that will be showing there.  Paul, The Divide, and The Innkeepers are all going to be making their premier at the festival held March 11-20.  Though two of the films are definitely set in stone, one was hinted at by the film’s director.  Find out more details beyond the break.

Greg Mottola’s Paul and Ti West’s The Innkeepers have both been officially announced to show at the festival.  Paul stars the dynamic duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and follows them on a UFO road trip that comes to a halt when they meet a real alien.  Directed by the man who gave us the Indie hit House Of The Devil, The Innkeepers revolves around two hotel workers who one night set out to document whether the hotel they work at really is haunted.

The third film that might be showing there is brought to us by Xavier Gens (Frontier(s)).  It is rumored that The Divide will be showing at the festival when the director let slip earlier this week  that the film will be premiering this March in Austin. (?) Though that isn’t an official announcement, I think it might be a safe bet that he is referring to SXSW.  The Divide is a post-apocalyptic horror film starring Michael Biehn (Aliens, Terminator)and Rosanna Arquette.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
