New Poster and Video Memorializes ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter could be either a goofy misstep or a brilliant genre bender.  The source material written by Seth Grahame-Smith certainly plays the material straight and creates a believable world.  However, the film could come off as more of a one-note tongue-in-cheek romp.  One thing is for certain, the ad campaign has revealed a film that could be more character-driven than just a man on a hunt for vampires.  Which, honestly, I am all for.  This could be an entertaining altenative to the other Lincoln film being released by Spielberg this year.

A new poster for the film can be seen below.  You might remember from your history classes in middle school that the poster is a take on the famous statue presented in front of the Lincoln Memorial.  MTV has also released a new behind the scenes video from the set of the film that can be seen below.  Not much vampire axing can be witnessed in the video, but we do get a lot of footage of Benjamin Walker speaking as Abraham Lincoln.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
