MONSTERS Director Is Set To Unleash A Classic Monster

Though many sites have talked about big budget films like Inception and Toy Story 3 in their look back at 2010, a lot have also mentioned the low budget indie film Monsters as well.  Using only the catering budget of most larger films, Gareth Edwards created a post-apocalyptic road movie that was an interesting and visually stunning film.  You can read my original review of the film HERE.  Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have taken note of this up-and-coming talented director and have asked him to tackle their next monster sized project.  Find out what film after the break!

GODZILLA!!!!  Though the nasty taste of the 1998 Roland Emmerich film might still be left in your mouth, hopefully Edwards’ low-fi, documentary style approach might bring a much needed edge to the forgotten property.  No other news is known at this time regarding the re-imagining of Godzilla.  Given this announcement and the fact that he just won three British Independent Film Awards, Gareth Edwards has a lot to live up to.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
