It’s Hard for me to Warm up to this ‘Warm Bodies’ Image

Isaac Marion crafted a truly existential zombie novel with Warm Bodies.  His helpless creation, R (he can only remember the first letter of his name) shambles up and down escalators shifting in and out of fleeting memories and thoughts of a brighter future.  It’s a heartbreaking exploration of a horrific being that never lingers too much in its own sappiness.  Jonathan Levine’s adaptation of the novel, starring Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class) and Teresa Palmer is currently filming and will be released in Aug. 2012.  With the American Film Market in full swing this week, Shock Till You Drop was able to snag a pic from the upcoming film that was displayed at the event.  This is our first look at the film, and it has certainly disappointed this fan of the novel.  I don’t want to bad-mouth this film too much because it has a talented director at the helm.  I just find it kind of disgusting that they are trying to market this as something in the same vein as Twilight. Do you need proof for this accusation? Look at the image below, and then continue on to view the DVD cover of Twilight. I rest my case.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
