Has SCREAM 4’s First Victim Been Revealed?

There has not been a lot revealed about the fourth entry in the Scream saga as of yet.  Last week, we did see some Scream 4 activity with an “in-progress” screening of the film.  Based on the first reactions from January 6th’s advanced screening in Pittsburgh, the early buzz is mainly positive.  Well, the new bit of news circulating around the water-cooler (Do horror fans have a water-cooler?) revolves around an interview given by a certain actress that shows up in Scream 4.  Who is the actress and what does she have to say?  Read the potentially spoiler-filled info beyond the break.

Screen Junkies was able to nab an interview with Lucy Hale.  Though the young actress was making the rounds for her new TV series, Pretty Little Liars, she did reveal a little bit about her role in Scream 4 that could be quite a big spoiler depending on your previous knowledge of the Scream films.

Lucy Hale says, “It’s a small role, which I was very happy to play. I’m at the beginning of the movie. They literally made me sign stuff that I couldn’t say much about it but it’s very exciting. It was very exciting for me to be a part of it and meet Wes Craven who’s an absolute sweetheart. I didn’t know what to expect but it was fun.

Hale continues by saying, “To be a part that has a cult following, to look back at Drew Barrymore’s opening scene and be like I’m a part of this. This is unreal. It’s really cool.

She concludes by finally revealing, “I was actually originally supposed to do another part and would come back for Scream 5, but it didn’t work with the schedule. So I did a few scenes.

Judging by the fact that Drew Barrymore dies at the beginning of the first film, we might assume the same can be said of Lucy Hale’s small role in Scream 4.  We will have to wait and see when the film opens April 15, 2011.

Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately, Sidney’s appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
