Eli Roth Wants to Bring You Close to a PSYCHO KILLER

Following the success of The Last Exorcism, Eli Roth, Eric Newman, and StudioCanal are set to release a new horror film that will hopefully make the same impact as Exorcism.  Handing over writing duties to Andrew Kevin Walker, writer of the exceptional Se7en, the team will release Psycho Killer.  Though the name has been floating around the internet this past year, Variety now has more info on the new project.  They are reporting that Zombieland producer, Gavin Polone, will make his directorial debut with the film. To find out more about Psycho Killer including the proposed plot and tone of the film, continue reading.

Psycho Killer will follow “a nameless, masked murderer who leaves a trail of victims across the U.S. In a chance encounter on the plains of Nebraska, he kills a highway patrolman. The only witness, the patrolman’s young wife — also an officer — sets out to hunt the killer down.”  Director Gavin Polone says that the first 20% of the film will follow the killer’s every move before switching gears and following both story lines as they converge.  So with the talents of the writer from Se7en and the director of Hostel acting as producer, are audiences going to see another “PG-13” horror film like what was done with The Last Exorcism? Polone  reassured Variety, that Psycho Killer would be an “elevated, uncompromised, R-rated thriller.”  With a name like that, I don’t know how psycho it really would get if it wasn’t rated “R.”

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
