APOLLO 18 Finally Gets a Release Date . . . I Think?

So what happened to the crew of Apollo 18? Well, we here at DTB have been dying to find out but they keep pushing back the release date. Now it looks like they have finally settled on a date. . . I think? Read more after the break.

It looks like Dimension Films is planning to release this highly anticipated sci-fi, horror, found footage flick about events happening to a two man crew on September 2nd, 2011. The film has had 5 different release dates but it looks like this will be the last. Something I was unaware of until I read a couple press releases is that the film will be released the same day as Shark Night 3D. That bodes well for us horror fans, but in my opinion does not do well for the 3D campy fish tale that is being released by Relativity. I think if you watch the trailer for each film, the mainstream audience is going to flock to Apollo 18 more so than the other because found footage movies are more popular right now. But more than anything, it also just looks better.

Here is a quick plot breakdown on Apollo 18:

The year is 1972 and the Apollo 17 launches on December 17th in route to the moon. Unbeknownst to us all NASA sent two astronauts on a secret mission back to the moon a year later and what we are about to see is the footage that was shown to the department of defense. In this footage we find out why that was the last time we ever went to the moon. NASA denies the existence of Apollo 18 and claims the footage is not authentic well you be the judge.
