20 Bloody Years Are Shown In The First Poster For The ‘OLDBOY’ Remake

The red scratches on the first Oldboy poster reference the 20 years that Josh Brolin’s character, Joe Doucett, is held against his will.  What did he do to deserve such a punishment?  If you have seen Chan-wook Park’s graphic and memorable 2003 film than you might know what you’re in for.  All others will be in for a rude awakening thought with this grim and brutal story of vengeance.  Spike Lee’s remake for the South Korean film is set to be released on October 11.  A trailer has not been revealed yet, but at Las Vegas’ CinemaCon over the weekend, the first poster was seen.  It’s simply an amateur photo of it, but when a hi-res version is revealed, we will update it.

An advertising executive is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his punishment, only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
