One of the best horror films of the year, INSIDIOUS, haunts DVD shelves July 12th

One of the best horror films of the year, did not include the gimmick of 3D, nor was it a sequel or remake, and it was made for less than $2 million dollars!  Insidious is considered to be one of the most profitable films of the year because it has grossed over $50 million at the box-office and cost a little more than a drop in a bucket to produce.  The talented tag-team of James Wan and Leigh Whannell nailed it again with an edge-of -your -seat, old-fashioned ghost story that proves that there is still a demand for well-made original horror films (you can read my review of the film HERE) .  Now, the ghostly film is heading to DVD and Blu-ray on July 12.  Special features on the disc include three featurettes on the making of the film: “Horror 101: The Exclusive Seminar”, “On Set With Insidious”, and “Insidious Entities.” If Insidious is still playing in theaters in or close to your hometown, I highly recommend seeing it on the big-screen due to its unnerving sound design and creepy figures that subtlety appear throughout the film.  Keep reading to check out the Blu-ray cover-art for one of the scariest films of the year.

You want to hear something that adds even more creepiness to the film: Actor Philip Friedman was the man who dressed up as the creepy old woman who appears in the film as well as in the image you can see above.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
