‘MARTYRS’ Director Unleashes ‘THE TALL MAN’ on DVD/Blu-ray This September

One of the most brutal films – on both a physical and emotional level – to come out in the past ten years or so is Pascal Laugier’s haunting gore-fest Martyrs.  For some of you it may be a trial to sit through due to the shocking nature of some of the visuals.  Yet, for those who can stomach a more extreme film, you will be treated to a truly unforgettable film that contains a greater message about the value of life and what lies beyond death.  It’s a film that still shakes me and most likely will stick with me for years to come.  Needless to say, I’m ecstatic to see the French writer and director’s follow- up, The Tall Man.  It’s being reported that the film will be getting a limited theatrical release on August 31.  Shock till you Drop is now reporting that the film will be hitting DVD and Blu-ray shelves on September 25. No other news regarding the release is available at this time.

In the film, Jessica Biel plays a mother who is looking for her missing child when she stumbles upon the legend of the Tall Man, an entity who allegedly abducts children.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
