Find out where some of those Friday the 13th films got some of their kills. Not to mention, this is one of my favorites from director Mario Bava.

When a rich countess is murdered, it’s a race to see who’ll inherit her estate and you can bet that the body count is going to rise rapidly in the process as the plot twists spin wildly out of control. The pile of bloodied corpses is going to get higher and higher as each one of the mangled victims are hung, speared, stabbed and macheted. One by one, the horrific murders turn the screen crimson with blood… A Bay of Blood! English Dubbed Version.

Here’s another great Mario Bava flick, new on Blu-Ray!

Industrialist George Stark (Teodoro Corra) invites a small group of wealthy friends to his private island for a weekend of relaxation and light business. He wants them to meet the brilliant chemist Gerry Farrell (William Berger) who has invented a new chemical process. Against his wishes, Farrell is engaged in business discussions revolving around millions of dollars worth of investment. As each of the potential investorsgoes behind each other’s back, fear and mistrust grow, particularly once the guests begin turning up dead. English Dubbed Version.

After six seasons of sublime, nerdy fun on television, the cult comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000 took to the big screen in 1996 for its deliriously funny takedown of the 1955 alien invasion epic This Island Earth.

Evil scientist Dr. Clayton Forrester explains the premise at the start: in his quest for world domination, he devises a scheme to subject the human race to the worst movies ever made. He tests his plan on Mike Nelson, the sole human aboard an Earth-orbiting space station known as the Satellite of Love. But our hero and his two robot sidekicks turn a lemon into a much funnier lemon by showering This Island Earth with wisecracks, ridicule and general silliness. The human race may never be rid of cheesy movies, but when the critics are this nutty, who cares?

While I still haven’t seen this film, it has been so divisive that I want to include it as a pick of the week.

From the singular mind of horror maestro Rob Zombie comes a chilling plunge into a nightmare world where evil runs in the blood. The Lords of Salem tells the tale of Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, who receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a “gift from the Lords.” Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the town’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the “Lords of Salem” returning for revenge on modern-day Salem?

Andy Triefenbach is the Editor-in-Chief and owner of DestroytheBrain.com. In addition to his role on the site, he also programs St. Louis' monthly horror & exploitation theatrical midnight program, Late Nite Grindhouse. Coming from a household of a sci-fi father and a horror/supernatural loving mother, Andy's path to loving genre film was clear. He misses VHS and his personal Saturday night 6 tape movie marathons from his youth.
