Buckle Up! ‘DRIVE’ Races in on DVD and Blu-ray in January

One of, if not my favorite film of the year, has to be Nicolas Winding Refn‘s brilliant take on a Hollywood heist movie: Drive.  It is a perfect combination of cool music, fast cars, striking imagery, and precise acting that is a unique and truly Refn experience.  After years of making art-house films (Bronson, Valhalla Rising) that linger on the fringe of mainstream cinema, Refn has made a film that will with-a-doubt push him into wide recognition. You can read my review of the film HERE.

If you failed to catch the Ryan Gosling starring vehicle during its cinematic run, hopefully you’ll be able to catch it when it hits DVD and Blu-ray early next year.  Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be releasing Drive on January 10th, 2012.   No cover art or details on the release has been unveiled as of yet.  I can promise you that we’ll keep you updated once we know more.

At least I have the theatrical trailer to obsess over until January.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
