ATTACK THE BLOCK Crash Lands on DVD and Blu-ray in October!

One of the surprise hits of the summer and one of the best-reviewed films of the year is Joe Cornish’s creature-feature Attack the Block.  Each week the film has slowly expanded to more and more cities.  For those living in the hometown of Destroy the Brain, St. Louis, the film just opened in a few theaters here this past Friday.  To read my positive review of the film, click HERE.  Trust me . . . if it’s playing in your city now, head out to your theater this second.  For those who haven’t been lucky enough to have the film open in their city, breathe a sigh of relief.  You won’t have to wait too long to catch the film on DVD and Blu-ray.  Hi-Def Digest is reporting that Attack the Block will hit stores October 25.  Just in time for Halloween!  I highly recommend a double feature with this and Monster Squad for your Halloween entertainment.  No special features and cover-art have been released as of yet.  Infusing just the right amount of humor and action in this tale of monsters-running -a muck in a South London suburb, Attack the Block is a must-own film when it gets released next month.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
